Kohina created an innovative showroom for Fortum – Welcome to the world of energy!

Fortum’s headquarters gained a new dimension when strategic design agency Kohina stepped in to help realize the vision of a striking and immersive showroom.

The new showroom was designed with optimized spatial flow and seamlessly aligned with Fortum’s brand renewal. Kohina introduced a “transition tunnel” — a light art installation that symbolized energy and transformation, guiding visitors into the immersive experience.

The showroom features a variety of digital elements, including a waterfall wall, display walls, holograms, and interactive content designed to be shared on social media.

Challenge

When the design work at Fortum’s headquarters began, the visitor experience was limited to a standard reception desk and a single self-service kiosk—hardly a clear or inviting representation of a leading energy company. The aim was to enhance the use of space and create an inspiring, functional environment for both internal and external communication.

Kohina’s service design process began with in-depth research and mapping of the customer journey and identifying key touchpoints. The project was closely aligned with Fortum’s ongoing brand renewal.

The showroom was envisioned as a dynamic platform to communicate Fortum’s operations, values, and innovations to clients and partners. It became a powerful way to showcase product development and social responsibility efforts. The space also doubles as a training venue and supports sales, marketing, stakeholder engagement, and internal communication. From onboarding sessions to holiday events—the space adapts to all kinds of needs.

Benefit

Fortum gained a one-of-a-kind communication tool that offers visitors a tangible, engaging journey through the company’s work. More than a static presentation, the showroom invites guests to experience the energy sector’s cutting-edge innovations firsthand. Internally, it also strengthens employee understanding of the company’s mission and values.

Kohina led the project’s overall design process, including architectural design, custom furniture, interior architecture, and the conceptualization of a unique light art installation. The award-winning piece—created in collaboration with Lighting Design Collective—responds to human movement, creating an unforgettable experience.

Today, Fortum’s headquarters features a bold and immersive showroom that invites visitors into the heart of the company’s expertise. Kohina transformed the space into a powerful storytelling environment—one that illuminates the future of energy.
