”There’s a calm feel and a harmonious color scheme.”
– Employee, Mirka
The kitchen area was turned into an inviting place for gatherings throughout the day.
Yellow and black details typical to the Mirka brand create a more interesting overall feel.

Challenge
Mirka needed a more modern office from Vaasa that supports versatile ways of working. The goal was to create a space that would be easier to access and bring joy to those working there. Located in a business park, the spaces were to be designed for 30 – 50 employees. The focus of the design was to incorporate the Mirka brand and to find potential solutions for future workplace renewals.
Benefit
The Vaasa office was designed as an activity based office, supporting flexible ways of working. Open work area, team and shared spaces as well as other support spaces can all be used for working. Meeting rooms and a break area as well as a space allocated for silent work further improve the usability. To incorporate up to 50 people, a second version of the layout plan was drawn for possible future growth.
The visual idea of the office reflects Mirka’s Scandinavian roots. The Mirka-feel can be sensed immediately when entering the office. The lobby serves as a meeting place that can be easily recognized, thanks to the Mirka logo on the wall. Yellow and black were used as accent colors in the otherwise timeless and earthy whole. Customary to Mirka’s corporate identity, plenty of wood was used throughout the workplace.
